Practical Libertarianism

Core Libertarian principles support a practical role for government in our economy and society, as a means of extending freedom. Government, certainly, can be coercive and limit free will. But in our interconnected, industrial world, the market itself can also be coercive. We need government to protect individuals against the coercion of the market. We need government to actively ensure that all Americans have the skills and opportunity they need to participate in our economy, to pursue their own version of the American Dream. I believe Libertarianism supports a role for Government as a tool to extend free will.
